Loads of little shifts and turns in this one. I was surprised because it reads like a lazy river, but jerks you back to life every few chapters with something completely odd. I loved this book and I read it fast. 4/5 stars ****
It starts off feeling like a slow, gentle family story, but little by little it becomes stranger, darker and much more unsettling. There are lots of small twists and unexpected moments that keep you reading, and by the end I couldn't stop thinking about it (and I was also confused as to why I liked it so much because really, it feels like a slow burn as you read. But, I actually flew through it and really loved it. I'm glad to have picked it up (admittedly the front cover enticed me).
